Restrict Caffeine Intake

Avoid raw and unpasteurized milk in pregnancy to reduce the chances of contracting an infection. Unpasteurized milk products like cheese, too, can contain harmful bacteria like Listeria. The same is valid for unpasteurized juice and can lead to severe complications for the baby. Only eat pasteurized milk, milk products, and fruit juice during this time. Pasteurization helps to kill all the harmful bacteria without taking away the nutrition.
Stay Away From Smoking And Alcohol
Pregnant women should completely stay away from alcoholic drinks. Drinking leads to obesity and badly affects the growth and development of the fetus. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is a severe condition where the alcohol that passes onto the baby’s bloodstream leads to growth deficits. It also damages the central nervous system of the baby, causing severe abnormalities. Such babies are more at risk to suffer from physical abnormalities, intellectual disability, and organ defects. Moreover, it heightens the chances of miscarriage and stillbirth. Smoking should be highly restricted in pregnancy as it prevents proper blood and oxygen flow to the fetus. Apart from causing risks of miscarriage, it is a reason for low-birth-weight and stillbirth.
